It can sometimes be a lonely world as a wedding videographer, spending long hours at the edit suite, very often sobbing to myself at the beauty of the people I’m watching, but the real joy for me is the people you meet and work with along the way. I began this feature series as my way of sharing the work of incredible people who have made an impact on both me and the people around them, those that go above and beyond in what they do to make you feel special- and todays feature certainly does that…

Upwaltham Barns has a very special place in my heart. They have welcomed me in, trusted me and given me a lot more confidence in myself- and it all began with a chance meeting.. I first met Sam and Nicola at the Wedding Industry Awards after we were nominated and shortlisted for Wedding Videographer of the Year 2017; picture a packed room, people filling every seat and standing all around- except 2 little empty chairs next to two smiley ladies (what are the chances!). On introducing ourselves, it was very clear that they were just beautiful people and cared very much about what they do and especially the people around them. I remember having heard of their barn before but not really knowing much more about them, but what I did know is that they made my sister and I feel really comfortable despite us both being out of our usual comfort zones (we are both very much home girls!) Unsurprisingly they then went on to win their category!

Since then I have had the pleasure of meeting and working with the whole team at the barns and I can honestly say that they are nothing short of amazing. As well as running the most gorgeous barn venue, they are an absolute joy to be around and I always come away with a warm heart and a beaming smile on my face- and I know the same goes for their couples. They really are exceptional at what they do, and they go above and beyond for their couples, even holding Wedding Experience Evenings so you can experience what it is like to be a guest at a wedding there, something you don’t normally get the chance to do. On this note I should also mention Nibbles2Nosh who are responsible for the delicious food that is delivered at the barns. Noone leaves Upwaltham without being fed well and the food is pretty exceptional too! I feel humbled and honoured to know the whole team at Upwaltham Barns and know that we have many more exciting experiences to share together- I absolutely can’t wait!

How did you get started as a wedding venue?

The barns, which were part of the family farm, were slowly renovated over a five year period and converted specifically with a a wedding venue in mind. A labour of love which has developed into a thriving family business and a truly special and beautiful place to get married.

Who makes up the team?

A great team which is headed up by Tim and Nicola who run the venue, Claire and Kate who run the catering side of things and Steve who runs the Stable Bar and Sue (who is everyones mum) heads up the gardening team. (Featured Image above is of the team at the barns!)
